Access Control List (ACL) diskfile persistence, a new feature for Safeguard software, is being released with the general availability of the HP NonStop Kernel operating system release version update (RVU) G06.21 .
Safeguard ACL diskfile persistence allows users to create an ACL before the disk file exists and retain it after the file is purged. This feature is desirable because there are operational situations in which files are deleted and recreated during each run of an application. When many files are frequently affected, it is advantageous to reuse the existing Safeguard protection record.
The commitment made by HP to implement the Safeguard ACL diskfile persistence enhancement is the result of work done by the ITUG Security Special Interest Group (SIG) to develop a list of the six most desirable enhancements to Safeguard software. In response to the Security SIG’s work, the NonStop Enterprise Division has added additional developers to the Safeguard team, and this release is the first of their efforts to implement the Security SIG’s changes.
