HP NonStop Security - Data In Motion

The HP NonStop server now offers a new enterprise security product to provide secure shell support connectivity for the NonStop server.  In today’s world, customers need a way to insure that sensitive data is protected when it is being moved. NonStop SSH delivers end-to-end communications security, strong authentication and auditing for system administration, file transfer and applications connectivity.

A few key facts about the NonStop SSH product’s capabilities:

• Fully compliant to the SSH2 protocol specification and cooperates with SSH solutions on Unix, Windows or other platforms.

• Outstanding performance and availability leveraging the NonStop server’s native mechanisms for inter-process communication, load balancing and fault tolerance.

• NonStop SSH provides full support when OSS is present including the ability to run full screen terminal applications such as vi or emacs. However, NonStop SSH does not require OSS to be installed on the NonStop server and is easy to use and manage on systems that do not require OSS for their applications.

• Allows remote command execution and the ability to include NonStop servers in cross-platform operational procedures.

• Supports SFTP (Secure FTP) with seamless OSS and Guardian filesystem support.  This supports immediate secure file transfer directly to and from the target environment.

• Secures generic port forwarding for any application based on TCP sockets.  Secures FTP port forwarding without changes. NonStop SSH supports firewall-friendly FTP over a single SSH connection.

• Supports public key authentication. The product offers the ability to replace weak password-based user logon with a strong authentication mechanism.

• Maximum security for private keys. The central key store and SSH agent offers easy and secure implementation of batch processes without having to use passwords in batch files.

• Advanced auditing capabilities. NonStop SSH makes it easy to find out who is accessing your system via SSH or SFTP and what operations are executed, enabling customers to comply with internal and external security policies.
