The NonStop Enterprise Division of HP announces the end-of-sales (EoS) for the Token Ring communications controller:

  • Marketing ID = 3862

Traditionally, Token Ring technology has been a convenient way to connect NonStop to IBM systems.  At this time, there are better ways to accomplish that.

However, the main reason for the discontinuation is that we cannot secure a vendor going forward for key chips in the product to maintain RoHS compliance.

The EoS date is May 30, 2008.  Of course, normal support for these controllers at customer sites will continue for up to five years from EoS.
