It’s well understood by companies who take disaster tolerance seriously that practice is a key factor in successful planning for business continuity—they plan to withstand the unpredictable. Only during a true rehearsal of all system and human procedures can an enterprise discover those often small but significant requirements for fast takeover on a backup system. Often in such tests, a systems manager may discover files that were not moved to the target system … ones that didn’t appear as critical in initial planning, but made all the difference for success.
For HP Integrity NonStop server environments, HP NonStop AutoSYNC software enables systems teams to easily move all files not replicated by other means, but which are critical, to a target system—automatically. This software is a key component of a NonStop Business Continuity solution. It replicates NonStop SQL tables; audited and nonaudited structured files; unstructured files such as edit, Pathway control and configuration, batch, obey, and object files; BLOBs; TACL macros; Open System Services (OSS) files and directories; and partitioned files (including volume remapping).
In addition to its use for disaster tolerance, when it is time to upgrade, NonStop AutoSYNC can be essential for expediting a smooth system migration.
Enhancements with special new release of software
HP is making continuing improvements with a special new release: NonStop AutoSYNC Version 1.0 Update 9 (AAJ) for Integrity NonStop servers and Nonstop S-series servers.
Enhancements include:
- OPENUPDATE for support of replicating open NonStop SQL tables and OSS files
- EXCLUDE for support of OSS file sets
- New display option SYSTEM for STATUS SYNCF/BATCHID/ASYSYNC commands
- New option FROMOWNER for SYNC/ADD SYNCF/ALTER SYNCF commands
- Guardian subvolumes with names $*.ZYQ*.* containing OSS system files automatically excluded from synchronizations
- Improved MONITOR STATUS LICENSE display
- KEEPBACKUPINFILE for OSS Purge list

Update 9 is available upon request for systems licensed for any version of Integrity NonStop (HSA46V1) and Nonstop S-series (SA46V1) server software, at no additional charge.
