HP is announcing the end of sales (EOS) of the Gigabit Ethernet ServerNet adapter (GESA), a one-port Gigabit Ethernet controller for HP NonStop servers (model number 3865).

Key dates
The last shipment date for GESA controllers is July 2007.

The device is in Controlled Availability due to limited supply.

HP will continue to offer hardware maintenance services for a minimum of five years following the date of the product’s last sale by HP.

EOS replacement hardware product
The Gigabit Ethernet adapter (G4SA), a four-port Gigabit Ethernet controller (model number M8800), can be used in place of the GESA; however, it requires the HP Integrity NonStop I/O infrastructure (e.g., IOAME).

In addition, the Fast Ethernet ServerNet adapter (FESA), a one-port 100 MB/s Fast Ethernet controller (model number 3863), can be used in place of the GESA if lower-speed Ethernet connectivity is acceptable and the G4SA would present too difficult an infrastructure change. Or the E4SA (3861) can be used if this lower bit rate is acceptable (4 ports at 10Mbps).
