This year, ITUG Summit once again provided the premier education and networking venue for the HP NonStop technology community. For the first time, ITUG Summit 2007 co-located with the broader user community of the HP Technology Forum (HPTF) and clearly thrived within this larger environment. With more than 7,500 attendees, 131 exhibitors, and eight preconference seminars, ITUG Summit 2007 made history.
According to Jon Healey of SunGard, "ITUG Summit demonstrates how ITUG can thrive in a more competitive and heterogeneous marketplace. ITUG Summit has distilled into a leaner event but is all the more intense and focused for that very reason. The attendees and vendors are absolutely the who’s who of the NonStop world. There is no comparable forum for sharing ideas and keeping informed on all fronts. ITUG Summit attendees’ access to key HP personnel is more open and egalitarian then ever."
Featured customer speakers, Leader’s Day, and other highlights
ITUG provided an exciting technical program lineup, with nearly 100 technical sessions. Attendees had the opportunity to gain insight from HP developers, managers, and product engineers, experienced NonStop users, and third-party vendors. The ITUG member kiosk and ITUG networking booth were both hits, as was the closing-night party with the Grammy Award–winning, multiplatinum band, Train.
Featured customer speakers shared exciting stories about how their companies are creatively implementing NonStop solutions to meet their challenging business needs. Attendees heard from Diederick de Buck, controlling architect/NonStop technical evangelist at Rabobank Netherlands, and from Frank Marchio, senior director of Customer Information Initiatives at CIBC.
Additional highlights included a host of interesting and informative breakout sessions ranging from business application solutions (finance; enterprise solutions; and communications, media, and entertainment) and developing applications to business intelligence, platforms, and enterprise application management.
The fourth annual ITUG Summit Leader’s Day, an event focused on business sessions and interaction with HP executives, was another important highlight, offering a unique opportunity for NonStop customer executives to explore the topic “Optimizing IT for Better Business Outcomes.”
