The new release of HP NonStop Transaction Management Facility (TMF) software can help businesses improve operational efficiencies by improving performance. Users of applications with the highest transaction rates will benefit most by the faster commit time now provided by NonStop TMF 3.5 software, especially for those applications used in environments with HP StorageWorks XP disk arrays. NonStop TMF 3.5 software offers improved performance by providing finer-grained control of the Transaction Monitor Process (TMP) Wait Timer, thus allowing users to tune commit processing performance.
Faster, smarter commit time processing
With NonStop TMF 3.5, smarter “convenience writes” and Disk Process enhancements make commit time processing faster. In this new release, when audit data is shipped to the Audit Disk Process, the Disk Process will write to the audit trail immediately, to avoid multiple I/Os at TMP commit time. NonStop TMF 3.5 software also allows convenience writes to occur at a smaller size—now a minimum of 64 KB—providing there is no active write underway to the audit trail. In previous releases, convenience writes were not permitted until a maximum length I/O was achieved. These new and smarter convenience writes encourage smaller and thus faster I/O.
NonStop TMF 3.5 also improves audit write performance for audit trails on HP StorageWorks XP, now allowing even partial blocks to be written in parallel to the HP StorageWorks XP system.
