HP offers a Java-based conversion tool to help you update JDK/JRE images automatically in support of 2007 Daylight Saving Time standards

In the United States, Daylight Saving Time (DST) is used to extend the amount of evening daylight available during the summer months by advancing the clock by one hour. In most states in the United States, prior to 2007, DST began at 2:00 a.m. on the first Sunday in April and ended at 2:00 a.m. DST (1:00 a.m. Local Standard Time or “LST”) on the last Sunday in October.

Starting in 2007, DST begins at 2:00 a.m. on the second Sunday in March and ends at 2:00 a.m. DST (1:00 a.m. LST) on the first Sunday in November. For more details, see the official website of the California Energy Commission.

A conversion tool for HP’s NonStop server for Java

The TZupdater 1.1 tool is provided to allow installed HP NonStop server for Java (NSJ) JDK/JRE images to be updated with time zone data to accommodate the U.S. 2007 Daylight Saving Time changes originating with the "U.S. Energy Policy Act of 2005." The tool also incorporates changes to New Zealand's Daylight Saving Time which, for 2007-08, starts from 2am on 30 September, 2007 and ends at 3am on 6 April, 2008.

Support for the following server models

The TZupdater 1.1 tool supports the following NSJ releases:

  • On S-Series servers: NSJ 4.0 (T2766V10), NSJ 4.2 (T2766V20)
  • On NS-Series servers: NSJ 4.2 (T2766H10), NSJ 5.0 (T2766H50)

Instructions on how to install and use the TZupdater 1.1 tool is contained in the README.txt file.
