Would you like to give your customers and/or community the ability to inexpensively share files, e-mail, and photos using a cell phone or a pocket PC—from anywhere in the world? These services are available now using new technology that runs exclusively on HP Integrity NonStop servers.

Using the Simdesk World Wide Server™, HP and Simdesk Services for population-based computing are ready to support communications in emerging markets. For example, in Vietnam, most of the population cannot afford traditional computing devices. Here, the new solution can transform the technology landscape—leaving behind expensive infrastructures to provide private services that overcome economic and technological barriers. The services also support governments and communities in the industrialized nations, as well as educational institutions and small to –medium- sized businesses. Telecommunication companies can also deploy the technology to their customers using private label branding.

How it works

Users throughout the world can log on to these new population-based computing services using any device that can access the Internet, including cell phones, pocket PCs, and shared desktop devices. Although users won’t know it, they will be entering a multi-tier infrastructure that utilizes both Integrity NonStop servers and inexpensive HP BladeServer systems running Linux. User files, data, e-mail, and photos are hosted and protected in the Integrity NonStop environment, which provides the highest levels of availability and data integrity, so information is always ready when needed. The Integrity NonStop server environment also provides virtually unlimited scalability so that HP and Simdesk Services for population-based computing can grow rapidly, without technology constraints. Strong security is used throughout the computing environment, extending beyond Integrity NonStop servers to include Simdesk World Wide Server technology that encrypts user data from the access device to the server and back again—using military-grade encryption techniques similar to those used in online banking, including 1,024-bit RSA and 256-bit AES FIPS-197. HP BladeServer systems running Linux provide an intuitive user interface and the HP and Simdesk solution can be deployed in parallel with an existing infrastructure, providing the unique advantage of limited to no disruption to customer business.
