A few years ago, the ITUG Security Special Interest Group (SIG) submitted a list of the six most important enhancements for Safeguard software to HP NonStop Enterprise Division product management. Additional developers were added to the Safeguard team and work began to implement these changes. With the general availability of release version update (RVU) G06.27 of the HP NonStop operating system, the last set of these enhancements—“Multiple owners of Userids” and “Description fields”—is being released. “Multiple owners of Userids” featurePrior to this release of Safeguard software, only the group manager or a designated alternate owner (along with SUPER.SUPER) could manage a specific Userid. With this release, multiple owners can manage specific Userids, allowing the task to be delegated to a help desk, for example. “Description fields” enhanced featuresEnhanced description field features include the addition of two free-form comment fields to each Userid. One 2,048-character description field can be used to hold contact information or other information about the owner of the Userid. A second 2,048-byte binary field can be used to store a certificate. Other recent Safeguard enhancementsOther recent Safeguard enhancements include:
- ACL diskfile persistence
- ACL Warning Mode
- Allow node names on ACLs
- Allow patterns on diskfile ACLs
