New 15,000-RPM disk drives for HP NonStop servers product announcement

HP introduces two new 15,000-RPM disk drive products for HP NonStop S-series servers: the 4638 and 46144 disk drives.

4638 disk drive

The new 4638, a 15,000 RPM 36 GB disk drive, addresses the key requirements of the online transaction processing (OLTP) market segment—low price and high performance—to cost-effectively deploy multiple access arms (disk drives) in support of massively parallel high-volume OLTP applications. The 4638 disk drive will make significant contributions to OLTP.

The 4638 disk drive delivers high performance through its 15,000-RPM rotational speed and associated fast seek times. Disk random I/O throughput performance on HP NonStop servers can be as much as 25 percent higher than with earlier 10,000-RPM NonStop disk drive products, depending on a customer’s specific application.

The 4638 disk drive takes the place of the earlier 15,000-RPM, 18 GB 4619 disk drive as HP’s low-cost, high-performance disk drive product offering for NonStop servers. The 4619 disk drive will be discontinued from sales once remaining supplies are depleted.

46144 disk drive

The new 46144 disk drive delivers massive storage capacity and extremely high performance through its 15,000-RPM rotational speed and fast seek times. The 46144 disk drive product is an excellent fit for applications requiring massive data storage capacity, and, at 15,000 RPM, this product is also a perfect fit for many OLTP applications.

The 46144 disk drive will replace the 15,000-RPM, 72 GB 4672 disk drive as HP’s high-capacity disk drive product offering for NonStop servers. The 4672 disk drive will be discontinued from sales once remaining supplies are depleted.
