HP announces new servers for telecommunications, central office environments. These new servers are the high-end HP NonStop S88000SE server and the entry-level NonStop S78SE Server.
The high-end NonStop S88000SE Server is the new Network Equipment Building System (NEBS)-compliant, flagship server in the NonStop S-series server product line. It can be configured with 2 gigabytes, 4 gigabytes, 8 gigabytes, or 16 gigabytes of main memory. The processor multifunction (PMF) unit contains the main memory and two lockstepped MIPS R16000 processors, with 8 megabytes of Level 2 cache. There is also one multifunction I/O board with one HP ServerNet router, three Ultra SCSI ports (two internal and one external), one 10Base-T controller, and one service processor.
The NonStop S88000SE Server is intended for mission-critical, telecommunication applications that require high levels of availability, scalability, and data integrity. The NonStop S88000SE Server addresses application growth requirements by delivering 30 percent more performance than the previous-generation NonStop S86000SE Server.
The NonStop S78SE Server is the newest NEBS-compliant server for entry-level, telecommunication applications and is only available in a two-processor configuration with a NonStop S700 Software License. The NonStop S78SE Server is intended for applications that require high availability and data integrity, but not scalability.
The NonStop S88000SE Server requires Release Version Update (RVU) G06.24 or later of the HP NonStop Kernel Operating System. The NonStop S78SE Server requires RVU G06.17 or later of the NonStop Kernel Operating System.
Availability
These new servers will be generally available for ordering after January 20, 2005.
